What Are TEREA Sticks?
TEREA SMARTCORE STICKS are specially designed heated tobacco units intended for exclusive use with the IQOS ILUMA device. Within TEREA IQOS compatible sticks is a metal heating element, coated with stainless steel, that heats the tobacco from within without burning it. The sticks feature a fully sealed design for easy insertion and extraction into the IQOS ILUMA Holder.
The Internal Structure of TEREA SMARTCORE STICKS
TEREA SMARTCORE STICKS, specially designed for IQOS ILUMA, consist of several elements. These include the front seal, metal heating element, tobacco, ventilation chamber, protective casing and a cooling element.
The front seal keeps the holder clean after use, without leaving tobacco residue. It also ensures that the stick is inserted and removed easily.
The metal heating element is covered in stainless steel and inserted inside the stick. This is heated through the induction system and is able to offer continuous heating of the tobacco.
The tobacco is a carefully selected blend, which is finely chopped and specially prepared. Unlike with HEETS tobacco sticks, the tobacco is located in the centre of the stick.
The ventilation chamber is intended to regulate the required amount of tobacco vapour in the stick to allow for a satisfactory hit.
The protective casing is a paper wrapper that helps keep the device clean after use.
The cooling element is made of cellulose acetate and cools the temperature of the tobacco vapour so that it reaches the temperature suitable for inhalation.
Also, unlike many other tobacco sticks, TEREA SMARTCORE STICKS are sealed on both sides. This is why the experience with IQOS ILUMA does not create tobacco residue and does not require cleaning of the device after use.
What Are HEETS Sticks?
HEETS are specially designed real tobacco sticks that are heated by an IQOS bladed device rather than being burned like cigarettes - with no smoke, no ash and less smell. HEETS are produced with the highest level of precision to offer consistency and a high quality tobacco taste experience.
How Are HEETS Tobacco Sticks Made?
Unlike TEREA SMARTCORE STICKS, there is no metal heating element contained in HEETS tobacco sticks, which is necessary for the heating of tobacco in IQOS ILUMA devices.
HEETS tobacco sticks, that can be used with IQOS 3 DUO and previous IQOS models, have a structure that’s made up of six elements. These include an external filter, a cooling filter, an inner tube filter, protective casing, tobacco and paper.
The external filter of the tobacco sticks is made of cellulose acetate and provides the user with a cigarette-like experience.
The cooling filter is made of PLA - polylactic acid - and serves to cool the vapour generated by heating the tobacco, so that it reaches the correct temperature.
The air chamber filter has the function of keeping the tobacco compact and transfers the tobacco vapour to the cooling filter.
The tobacco, unlike TEREA SMARTCORE STICKS, is located at one end of the stick. To ensure the correct functioning of the IQOS device, it is heated through the blade present in the previous generation IQOS devices, unlike IQOS ILUMA.
HEETS vs TEREA

Both TEREA and HEETS heat the tobacco from inside instead of burning it, without any smoke or ash and less smell than cigarettes. However, TEREA sticks are sealed. When they are used with IQOS ILUMA, there is no tobacco residue and no need to clean the device after use.
Device compatibility:
You may be wondering, can I use HEETS with IQOS ILUMA? This is not possible. You can’t use the IQOS ILUMA with HEETS, but HEETS can be used with a range of other IQOS products - like IQOS Originals and IQOS 2.4 and IQOS 3.
