What do the lights mean on my IQOS devices?
Lights are an indicator of charging levels, cleaning status and some issues that might appear in your IQOS device. Read on to discover what the different lights mean.
What do the lights on my IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME Holder mean?
Here are the main status lights you may see on an IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME Holder and what they mean.
Blinking red light:
When the light on your IQOS ILUMA or IQOS ILUMA PRIME Holder is flashing red, this signals a problem with the device.
This could be caused by one of the following issues:
Your device might need a RESET.
Proximity to a magnet can also affect the device calibration, which causes the blinking red light. To avoid this issue, make sure you do not place the Holder against (or near) a magnet while using the device.
White light:
You may notice pulsing white lights on your IQOS ILUMA Holder.
There are a few possible explanations for this:
Either your Holder is pre-heating the tobacco stick, or your experience is shortly going to finish.
The device has been exposed to extremely hot or cold temperatures. If this is the case, you may need to give your device a few minutes to return to the correct operating temperature. The operating temperature range is between 0°C and 40°C.
You may also notice stationary white lights appear after a short press of the Holder button.
This shows the battery life of your Holder:
Two lights indicate that your Holder has enough charge for two heated tobacco sticks.
One light indicates it has enough charge for one heated tobacco stick.
Blinking yellow/orange light:
You may notice a blinking yellow/orange light. This means your device needs to be charged.

Blinking red light:
You may notice that the red light on your IQOS ILUMA Pocket Charger is flashing.
This means that your Holder is warning you that its charge is low. You can stop the light from flashing by charging your device. Keep the contacts between your Holder and Pocket Charger clean to ensure an optimal charge. When the strip light of your Pocket Charger is blinking red, perform a RESET by pressing the Pocket Charger button for 10 seconds. Keep it pressed while all the lights fade out and fade in again. Wait until the device vibrates.
White lights:
Blinking white light:
This could indicate that your device has been exposed to temperatures outside of the operating range. You may need to give your device a few minutes to get back to the correct temperature, which is between 0°C and 40°C.
Pulsing white rounded lights:
This means that your Holder is being charged. If you quickly press the Pocket Charger button, the lights will stop blinking and stay lit to show how much charge your device has left. Two stationary rounded lights mean your Holder has enough charge for two back-to-back experiences. One stationary rounded light indicates your Holder has enough charge for one experience.
Stationary white strip lights:
You may notice that stationary white strip lights appear after a short press of the Pocket Charger button. The white strip lights will indicate the battery levels of the Pocket Charger:
Four white strip lights: more than 75% charged.
Three white strip lights: 50% - 75% charged.
Two white strip lights: 25% - 50% charged.
One white strip light: Less than 25% charged.
Blinking yellow/orange light:
This means that your IQOS ILUMA needs to be charged. Fifteen minutes of charge should be sufficient for the light to stop blinking.

Are the lights on your IQOS ORIGINALS DUO Holder flashing? Here are the main status light signals you may see on an IQOS ORIGINALS DUO Holder and what they mean:
Blinking red light:
When the light on your IQOS ORIGINALS DUO Holder flashes red, the device may be indicating that the Holder’s heating blade is broken. We suggest checking your device with the following guidance:
Remove the Holder cap completely. Inspect the heating blade to see if it is broken. Launch the online device diagnostic tool for more information.
Another reason for a flashing red light is that your Holder might need more charge from your Pocket Charger. You should always use an official AC adaptor and power cable and clean the contacts between your Holder and Pocket Charger.
Your device might also need a RESET. We suggest doing the following:
Take out your Holder and put it back inside your Pocket Charger. Press the Pocket Charger button for 10 seconds.
White lights:
You may notice different white lights on your IQOS ORIGINALS DUO Holder.
Pulsing white lights
This can indicate that the device is not within the operating temperature range or your Holder self-cleaning might be overdue.
IQOS ORIGINALS DUO devices have a self-cleaning process, which automatically happens when the Holder is inside the Pocket Charger. When the Pocket Charger door is left open with the Holder inside, this self-cleaning process cannot happen. Therefore, your Holder will show pulsing white lights when cleaning is overdue.
Stationary white lights appear with a short press of the Holder button, revealing your Holder’s charge status:

One light indicates your Holder is ready for one use.

Blinking red light
When a rounded light on your IQOS ORIGINALS DUO Pocket Charger flashes red, your Holder might be warning you about its charge. Reasons for a faulty charge include:
Your device is being charged with an unofficial power adaptor and cable or being charged via a laptop. This causes the device to charge much slower. Ensure optimal device charging by using an official IQOS power adaptor and charging cable. Refrain from charging via a laptop.
Your Holder does not have enough time to charge between experiences. If the contacts between your Holder and Pocket Charger are not cleaned properly, it doesn’t allow your Holder to charge fast enough. Make sure to clean the contacts between your device’s Pocket Charger and Holder.
When the strip light of your Pocket Charger blinks red, your Pocket Charger is providing a warning about its charge. We suggest the following:
Ensure optimal charging of your device. Use an official IQOS power adaptor and charging cable. Refrain from charging via a laptop.
Place the device Holder back inside the Pocket Charger. The metal connector of the Holder should be at the bottom of the Pocket Charger.
Perform a RESET of your device. Press and hold the Pocket Charger button for 10 seconds. Keep it pressed until all the lights dim out. The RESET will be confirmed when all the lights briefly blink white.
