Can I Vape on a Cruise?

Can You Bring a Vape Pen On A Cruise?
If you’ve booked a holiday or cruise, you may be wondering whether vaping is permitted by your accommodation. Different cruises follow different countries’ rules and regulations and may also enforce cruise-line specific vaping policies. If you are due to board a cruise, you should check the rules before you vape on board - these will vary from cruise line to cruise line.
Are There Vaping Areas on Cruise Ships?
Most major cruise providers will have designated smoking areas on cruise ships where e-cigarettes can also be used. Some providers may also extend permission for guests to use vapes in their cabins, but this shouldn’t be assumed. Below is our little guide of vaping policies of a few cruise companies:
Can You Vape on a Carnival Cruise?
Carnival Cruises have dedicated areas for smoking and vaping – these areas differ from ship to ship, but in general, Carnival Cruise lines do not allow smoking or vaping in guest cabins, but do have designated smoking and vaping areas on different ships. All Carnival Cruise lines prohibit smoking outdoors on embarkation and debarkation days while the ship is refuelling.
Can You Vape on a P&O Cruise?
On P&O Cruises, smoking and the use of e-cigarettes is only permitted in designated, signposted smoking areas. You cannot smoke or use your vape indoors on any P&O ships, including in guest rooms and balconies.
Can You Vape on a Royal Caribbean Cruise?
Royal Caribbean has designated certain areas of their ships as smoking areas; smoking and the use of e-cigarettes are permitted in these areas. Smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes is not permitted inside any stateroom or stateroom balcony.
How Do Vaping Laws Differ Internationally?
Vaping laws do differ according to country, and as a cruise passenger, you will need to follow the rules of the country of the disembarkation port. Once you’re off the ship and exploring, then you do have to adhere to the local laws. In Europe, these are unlikely to vary too drastically from the UK, but it’s always best to check the local rules ahead of your journey to be sure. The following countries have restrictions on the sale, distribution, use and/or importation of electronic cigarettes:
· Argentina · Brazil · Brunei · Cambodia · Egypt · Oman · Qatar · Panama · Singapore · Thailand · Uruguay
The type of vape goods available to you at the country of disembarkation may also vary or be restricted. So, do bear in mind that you may not be able to purchase vaping accessories depending on where you go, and always be sure to check the rules before you set sail.
