When and where was the IQOS ILUMA launch in Japan?

The IQOS ILUMA launch took place in Japan amidst a lot of anticipation—generating intrigue and was received with a lot of interest. On launch day, media got the exclusive—during an afternoon press conference. Thereafter,  our latest innovation was revealed to our consumers, digitally on the IQOS Japan website. This was the very first digital launch of an IQOS product. In addition to the boutiques being completely revamped with the new IQOS architecture and IQOS ILUMA content, Japan also had an exciting new initiative with the launch of a Pop-Up venue in the heart of Tokyo—located at the world famous Shibuya crossing. It generated a lot of excitement and buzz amongst the IQOS fans, giving them a  memorable IQOS ILUMA experience to come and experience the exciting new world of IQOS ILUMA.

What is the technology?

The IQOS ILUMA’s new SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEMTM heats the tobacco from within the TEREA tobacco sticks - designed specifically for IQOS ILUMA - in an innovative and cleaner way. The heart of the new bladeless SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEMTM is an innovative metal heating element placed inside the stick and coated with stainless steel for for seamless heating of tobacco.
