What do the lights on my IQOS mean?

Lights are an indicator of charging levels, cleaning and some issues that might appear in your IQOS device. Read on to discover what the different lights mean.

What do the lights on my IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME Holder mean?

Here are the main status light signals you may see on an IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME Holder and what they mean.

 

Low/Orange Blinking Light on Holder

   
 

You may notice a blinking yellow/orange light. This means your device needs to be charged.

IQOS ILUMA Holder recharge time:

  • Average 1 minute 50 seconds for charging from 0-1 Use*
  • Average 3 minutes 25 seconds for charging from 1-2 Use*
  • Average 5 minutes 15 seconds for charging from 0-2 Use*

Red Blinking Light on Holder

   
 

When the light on your IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME Holder is flashing red, this signals a problem with the device.

This could be caused by one of the following issues:

  • Your device might need a RESET.
  • The firmware update might have failed.
  • Proximity to a magnet can also affect the device calibration, which causes the blinking red light. To avoid this issue, make sure you do not place the Holder against (or near) a magnet while using the device.
   
       
       
 

White Lights Blink Twice on Holder

   
 

You may notice pulsing white lights on your IQOS ILUMA Holder.

There are a few possible explanations for this:

  • Either your Holder is pre-heating the tobacco stick, or your experience is shortly going to finish.
  • The device has been exposed to extremely hot or cold temperatures. If this is the case, you may need to give your device a few minutes to return to the correct operating temperature. The operating temperature range is between 0°C and 40°C.

You may also notice stationary white lights appear after a short press of the Holder button.

This shows the battery life of your Holder:

  • Two lights indicate that your Holder has enough charge for two heated tobacco sticks.
  • One light indicates it has enough charge for one heated tobacco stick.

What do the lights on my IQOS ILUMA Pocket Charger mean?

Are the lights on your IQOS ILUMA Pocket Charger flashing? Find out about the main status light signals and what they mean:

Blinking red light:

You may notice that the red light on your IQOS ILUMA Pocket Charger is flashing.

This means that your Holder is warning you that its charge is low.

  • You can stop the light from flashing by charging your device.
  • Keep the contacts between your Holder and Pocket Charger clean to ensure an optimal charge.
  • When the strip light of your Pocket Charger is blinking red, perform a RESET by pressing the Pocket Charger button for 10 seconds. Keep it pressed while all the lights fade out and fade in again. Wait until the device vibrates.

White lights:

Blinking white light:

  • This could indicate that your device has been exposed to temperatures outside of the operating range. You may need to give your device a few minutes to get back to the correct temperature, which is between 0°C and 40°C.

Pulsing white rounded lights:

  • This means that your Holder is being charged. If you quickly press the Pocket Charger button, the lights will stop blinking and stay lit to show how much charge your device has left.
  • Two stationary rounded lights mean your Holder has enough charge for two back-to-back experiences.
  • One stationary rounded light indicates your Holder has enough charge for one experience.

Stationary white strip lights:

  • You may notice that stationary white strip lights appear after a short press of the Pocket Charger button. The white strip lights will indicate the battery levels of the Pocket Charger:

1. Four white strip lights: more than 75% charged.

2. Three white strip lights: 50% - 75% charged.

3. Two white strip lights: 25% - 50% charged.

4 One white strip light: Less than 25% charged.

Blinking yellow/orange light:

  • This means that your IQOS ILUMA needs to be charged. Fifteen minutes of charge should be sufficient for the light to stop blinking.

What do I do if the LED lights on my IQOS ILUMA / IQOS ILUMA Prime Pocket Charger no longer light up?

You may notice that the LED lights on your IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA Prime Pocket Charger are not lighting up.

In this case, your device may simply be turned off or it is not charging correctly.

To fix this, follow these steps:

  1. Place the IQOS ILUMA Holder in the Pocket Charger.
  2. Press and hold the button on the Pocket Charger for 10 seconds to reset your device. This will turn your device back on.
  3. Charge your Pocket Charger by connecting it to a power outlet using the official IQOS power adaptor and charging cable.
  4. While your Pocket Charger is charging, the lights on the charging bar will pulsate. If your device is heavily discharged, it may take up to 20 minutes for charging to begin.

What does the red light mean on my IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA Prime Pocket Charger?

You may notice that the red light on your IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA Prime Pocket Charger is flashing.

This means that your Holder is warning you that its charge is low.

Light Blinks Yellow/Orange: Battery depleted, need to charge.

Light Blinks White Twice: IQOS ILUMA ONE is outside operating temperature range (0°C~40°C).

What do I do if the LED lights on my IQOS ILUMA ONE no longer light up?

You may notice that the LED lights on your IQOS ILUMA ONE are not lighting up. In this case, your device may simply be turned off or it is not charging correctly.

To fix this, follow these steps:

  1. Press the button for four seconds to turn your device ON. The same action applies to turning it OFF as well.
  2. Ensure optimal charging for your device by using the official IQOS power adaptor and cable. Unofficial ones may interrupt the charging. Refrain from charging with a laptop as this may also interrupt the charging.
  3. Check the charging cable entrance of your device. If there is any blockage, remove this by gently blowing from a distance.
  4. While the device is charging, the lights will pulse. It can take up to 20 minutes for lights on a deeply discharged device to appear.
  5. RESET your device by pressing the button for 10 seconds. Keep it pressed while all the lights dim. The RESET will be confirmed when all the lights briefly blink white.

What does the red light mean on my IQOS ILUMA ONE?

You may notice that the red light on your IQOS ILUMA ONE is flashing.

This means that your device software might need a RESET.

To reset your device, follow these steps:

  1. Press the button for 10 seconds.
  2. Keep it pressed while all the lights dim out.
  3. The RESET will be confirmed when all the lights briefly blink white.

IQOS Originals

IQOS Originals DUO

The LED lights on your IQOS device has different meanings. White LED lights show that the IQOS ORIGINALS DUO is carrying out one of the various operations and Red LED lights signal that your device is warning for an error.

 

Lights on the Pocket Charger

1. Pulsing white rounded lights: This indicates that your holder is being charged

2. Stationary white rounded lights with short press to the pocket charger button: This shows the charge status of your holder. 2 stationary rounded lights: your holder is ready for 2 back-to-back experiences, 1 stationary rounded light: your holder is ready for one experience.

3. Blinking red rounded light: This shows a warning comes from your holder.

a. Your heating blade might be broken. Check your heating blade and if it is broken click here for online diagnostic tool.

b. Your holder might not be getting enough charge from your pocket charger. Always use official AC adaptor and power cable with a power outlet and always clean the contacts between your holder and pocket charger regularly with the cleaning sticks. c. Your device might need a RESET. Take out your holder and put it back inside of your pocket charger. Press the pocket charger button for 10 seconds. Click here to watch the tutorial on how to reset your device.

4. Stationary white strip lights with short press to the pocket charger button: This shows the charge status of your pocket charger.

a. 4 full white strip lights will indicate that the pocket charger is more than 75% charged.

b. 3 full white strip lights: 50% - 75% charged.

c. 2 full white strip lights: 25% - 50% charged.

d. 1 full white strip light: Less than 25% charged.

5. 1 flashing white strip light with short press to the pocket charger button: Your pocket charger is discharged, please charge it with an official AC Adaptor and Cable through a power outlet.

6. Rapidly blinking one white strip light: The device is not within the operating temperature range (0°C to 50°C) or the holder needs to be fully recharged using the pocket charger.

 

Lights on the holder

1. Pulsing white lights: This indicates that your holder is pre-heating the tobacco stick or informing you that your experience is going to finish shortly.

2. Stationary white lights with a short press to the holder button: This shows the charge status of your holder. Two lights illuminated indicates your Holder is ready for 2 uses; one light for 1 use and no lights means no charge, and you need to place your holder inside your pocket charger.

3. Blinking red light:

a. Your heating blade might be broken. Check your heating blade and if it is broken click here for online diagnostic tool.

b. Your holder might not be getting enough charge from your pocket charger. Always use official AC adaptor and power cable with a power outlet and always clean the contacts between your holder and pocket charger regularly with the cleaning sticks. IQOS Originals ONE

 

Blinking yellow light

This means your device is discharged. You should charge your device. Plug the device into a power outlet with the original IQOS ORIGINALS ONE power adaptor and cable. Always use the original power adaptor & cable and a wall outlet.
 

Blinking red light

 

Your heating blade might be broken. Check your heating blade and if it is broken click here for online diagnostic tool.

Your device software might need a RESET. Press the device button for 10 seconds to reset your device If this doesn’t resolve your issue, click here for online diagnostic tool.

 

Blinking white light

 

Your device might be outside of the operating temperature range (0°C to 50°C). You may need to let it cool down or warm up in your hands. If this doesn’t resolve your issue, click here for online diagnostic tool.

BONDS by IQOS

 

Blinking yellow light

If the device light blinks yellow, this means battery is low. In this case, please charge your device.

The BONDS by IQOS device does not require a full charge to work, however we recommend to fully charge it before the first use.

For safe use, charge your device using the supplied AC Power Adaptor and charging cable. Click here to watch the video and learn more about your BONDS by IQOS device.

 

Blinking red light

If you see the red light on your BONDS by IQOS device, we advise to reset it:

  1. Ensure the device is ON by pressing the button for 1 second and check if there is a light pattern.
  2. Press the button and keep it pressed until you feel 3 vibrations.
  3. After the 3rd vibration, BONDS by IQOS device is reset.
  4. Once BONDS by IQOS has been reset, the status lights indicate the level of charge.

Blinking white light

This indicates that the device is outside of operating temperature (0°C - <40°C). Do not use BONDS by IQOS device if it was exposed to excessive heat or moisture. In case of exposure to low temperatures, allow your device to reach back the room temperature but do not expose it directly to heat source.

If there are white running lights on your BONDS by IQOS device, this means that you have used your BONDS by IQOS device for 3 consecutive times.

After 3 consecutive uses, the device will cool down automatically and will not allow the 4th use. It will take 4 minutes before you can use your device again.

Blinking white light

Any white light indicates that the IQOS 3 DUO device performs various operations, like charging, resetting, ready to use, fully charged, or Pocket Charger is out of temperature range etc. It also means that it is outside operating temperature range (0°C-50°C) or Holder needs to be inserted in Pocket Charger with door closed till it is fully charged.
 

Blinking red light

Any red light indicates that there is a device error. The heating blade is broken or Holder malfunction. If it's a holder malfunction and the holder blade is intact, try to reset your IQOS device to resolve the issue.

 

IQOS Pocket Charger

 

Blinking white light

Any white light indicates that the IQOS 3 DUO device performs various operations, like charging, resetting, ready to use, fully charged, or Pocket Charger is out of temperature range etc.

 

Blinking red light

Any red light indicates that there is a device error, either software malfunction or Holder malfunction.

 

IQOS 3 MULTI

 

Blinking white light

Any white light indicates that the IQOS 3 MULTI device performs various operations, like charging, re-setting, or is ready to use, fully charged etc.

 

Blinking red light

Any red light indicates that there is a device error. If the Button light blinks white twice, this indicates that the device operates outside its operating temperature either too cold (below 0°C) or too hot (above 50°C).

Please, wait until the device to warm up or cool down, within temperature limits (0 - 50°C), before you use it. If the Button light blinks red, this might indicate device malfunction. Please, reset your device and try using it again.

IQOS 2.4 PLUS

Blinking red light:

If you see a steady or blinking red light, it could mean that:

  1. Your Holder is not charged.
  2. Your IQOS device is too cold or too hot.
  3. You pressed the Holder button while you were using it.
  4. There’s a problem with the Holder.

There are a few things you can try to fix the issue:

  1. Check that your IQOS 2.4 PLUS Pocket Charger is switched ON and has enough power.
  2. Place the IQOS 2.4 Plus Holder in the Pocket Charger and wait until it’s fully charged (up to 4 minutes).
  3. Make sure your IQOS 2.4 Plus Holder’s electric contact is clean.
  4. Reset your IQOS device.
