What is the FlexPuff Feature?

FlexPuff is a new, advanced feature on the new IQOS ILUMA i device.

All devices in the IQOS ILUMA i range are designed only for use with TEREA sticks and 1 experience lasts up to 6 minutes or 14 puffs, whichever comes first.

When the FlexPuff feature is active, the IQOS ILUMA i adapts to how the adult user puffs their device. As a result, it may provide 4 extra puffs still within the 6-minute duration. This enables a more personalized and flexible experience than before.

FlexPuff activation and the number of puffs depend on individual usage patterns, thus extra puffs might not apply to all adult consumers and/or experiences. FlexPuff does not activate when pause is used. This means not all adult users will get an extended experience.

How Does the FlexPuff Feature Work?

The device will analyze whether the stick has been fully consumed or not. If it has not, 4 extra puffs will automatically be added to the experience. This will be indicated on the Touch Screen, another brand-new feature on this device.

When puffs have been added, the light ring will extend in an anticlockwise direction to the 9 o’clock position.
When the additional puffs are nearly complete, the light ring will extend further in an anticlockwise direction to the 10 o’clock position.
When there are no lights displayed on the Touch Screen, the experience is over.

IQOS ILUMA i PRIME FlexPuff Feature

To activate FlexPuff, the adult user does not need to take any action since the system analyses the adult user’s experience automatically. Due to this and the number of puffs being dependent on individual usage patterns, we advise that you do not focus on your puffs and let the system function automatically.

If you use the Pause Mode, FlexPuff will not work for this experience. You can also activate or deactivate this feature through the IQOS WebApp. Find out more about the IQOS WebApp on our website.

What Other Features are New on the IQOS ILUMA i?

Pause Mode enables experiences with devices in the IQOS ILUMA i range to be paused for up to 8 minutes and then resumed*. If the experience is not re-activated within 8 minutes, the Holder will automatically switch off and the experience will end.

FlexBattery is another advanced feature on the IQOS ILUMA i. This enables the battery to be in one of two modes, Performance Mode and Eco Mode.

Performance Mode allows 2 consecutive uses of up to 6 minutes each with 1 pause for one of them, or up to 3 consecutive uses but without pause.
Eco Mode increases the lifespan of the holder battery by up to one year device, but only when fully used on Eco Mode throughout the lifespan of the holder and may vary depending on personal consumption.

*Only available in Performance Mode, during the first 3 minutes or 8 puffs of the experience. When pause is activated, Performance Mode gives adult users up to 2 consecutive experiences and pause is available only for 1 of them.

Touch Screen

The IQOS ILUMA i showcases IQOS' latest technology with the Touch Screen, a completely new user interface available in the IQOS ILUMA i and IQOS ILUMA i PRIME. It allows you to easily view information about your experience for greater convenience, which includes:

The time left of the experience
The number of available experiences (two dashes for up to 3 experiences and 1 dash for one experience)
The pre-heating status (duration and completion)

FlexBattery

FlexBattery is an adaptive feature that manages the holder battery to enable Pause, FlexPuff and consecutive uses. This feature enables you to use your holder in one of two modes:

Performance Mode - This is the default mode. It enables 2 consecutive uses of up to 6 minutes, each with 1 Pause available. Alternatively, you can experience 3 consecutive uses of up to 6 minutes each, without a pause.
Eco Mode - You can set your IQOS ILUMA i to this mode using the IQOS App. In this mode, the Holder will be set for a single use only, lasting up to 6 minutes. Doing so prolongs the lifespan of the Holder battery by up to one year so the holder can be used for longer*.

*Only when fully used on Eco Mode throughout the lifespan of the holder and may vary depending on personal consumption.

Pause Mode

With the Pause Mode feature, adult users can pause their experience for up to 8 minutes and resume it*. The Pause Mode feature provides adult users the flexibility to enjoy the experience at their own pace. This feature is particularly useful for those adult users who would like to have the convenience of pausing and resuming their experience.

*Only available in Performance Mode, during the first 3 minutes or 8 puffs of the experience. When pause is activated, Performance Mode gives you up to two consecutive experiences, and pause is available only for one of them.

Autostart/Autostop

Autostart and Autostop are features available in older generations of the IQOS ILUMA range as well as the IQOS ILUMA i. Autostart means that when a TEREA stick is inserted into the IQOS ILUMA i, preheating will start automatically. Autostop means that if the TEREA stick is removed from the IQOS ILUMA i Holder, the experience will stop.
