Preparing for travel with your tobacco heating device

Let’s start with the basics, the number one rule that applies wherever you’re heading to: charge your tobacco heating device. Running out of battery far from home is a bummer so make sure you’re fully charged for the trip.

What if you drop your device while running to catch your connecting flight and now your IQOS is malfunctioning? No worries, we’re here for you. You can find dedicated support for your device in our customer support section, and depending on where you’re travelling to, you could also visit a local IQOS store or boutique if you have issues with your device.

Are you fond of a particular HEETSTMBLENDS or TEREA variant? Make sure you have your favorite tobacco sticks ready before going abroad. Don’t forget, not all countries will have your preferred flavor or variant of heated tobacco sticks. To avoid running out of stock or settling for something you prefer less, make sure you bring enough sticks for your trip. Just keep in mind the limitations on the quantity of tobacco sticks you may bring**.

**Please make sure to check and comply with applicable custom regulations.

And lastly: prepare for anything. You don’t know where your adventure will take you so consider getting accessories for your tobacco heating device that will sort you whatever happens. For example, you can get an IQOS USB power adapter and a charging cable that are compatible with different sockets. You can also get an IQOS case that can protect your device from scratches, dust, or water.

Please make sure to check and comply applicable airline regulations/policies.

IQOS in Airports

Waiting for your flight to board can give you some time to lounge about in the airport. This time can also be used to enjoy a moment or two with your IQOS. In airports, the use of IQOS is treated the same as the use of cigarettes. So, if you’re looking to enjoy IQOS before you board, find a designated smoking/vaping area you can go to. Luckily, IQOS has its own designated areas in NAIA Terminal 3 and in Mactan-Cebu Terminals 1 and 2. Here, you can enjoy your IQOS freely and even avail of some services from our IQOS Coaches in the area.

Travelling by car with your tobacco heating device

Ah, road trips. Don’t you just love the idea of driving down an open road with the summer breeze combing your hair?

Always charge your tobacco heating device before you leave or use a car charger that is compatible with your device: you don’t want to run out of battery when you’re on the road or in the middle of nowhere.

Avoid exposing your TEREA, HEETSTM, or BLENDS sticks to direct sunlight, heat or moisture by storing them in a cool and dry place. You can also use an IQOS holder that can keep your sticks organized and accessible.

Don’t get distracted. Use your tobacco heating device responsibly and drive carefully.

Be respectful and avoid using your IQOS if there are passengers who are pregnant, minors, or otherwise sensitive to vapor.

*Please ensure to check and comply with local regulations on use of heated tobacco products.

Using heated tobacco at your destination

Unlike conventional cigarettes, heated tobacco products do not produce cigarette smoke or ash, so they are less likely to bother other people or leave the smell of tobacco on your clothes or in your hotel room. However, you should always check the local laws before taking and using your tobacco heating device abroad, and respect people around you. Some countries may have different rules for heated tobacco products, so make sure you are aware of them before you travel.

Getting support for your tobacco heating device when you’re abroad

Picture this: you’re walking down the streets of Manila and your tobacco heating device falls into a manhole. What do you do?

Luckily, it is not common to have issues and need support for your IQOS while abroad, but there are some problems that could occur:

  • Running out of battery or charger for your device.
  • Damaging or losing your device or products.
  • Having your device or products malfunctioning or not working properly.

If you want to minimize the chances of running into problems, this is what you can do:

  • Charge your device before going out and bring a spare charger with you.
  • Pack your device and products securely in your hand luggage or carry-on bag.
  • Check the rules and if necessary, declare your device and products to customs and follow their rules and regulations.
  • Check your device and products regularly, and make sure you clean and maintain them properly.

Troubleshooting while you’re on holiday FAQs

Sometimes, despite contacting customer service, you might still face some issues with your tobacco heating device that require more troubleshooting.

1. What happens if my tobacco heating device gets wet?

If your tobacco heating device gets wet, you should turn it off immediately and dry it with a soft cloth. Do not use any heat sources such as hair dryers, microwaves, ovens, or direct sunlight to dry your device, as this might damage it further. Do not try to use your device until it’s completely dry. If your device still does not work properly after drying it, you should contact the manufacturer or the retailer for assistance.

2. What happens if my tobacco heating device breaks?

If your IQOS device breaks while travelling abroad, you should check if it is still under warranty and if your device is covered by the International Assistance program in your destination country. If so, just pop in at your nearest IQOS store and our staff will be happy to fix it or replace it entirely.

3. Can I use my IQOS indoors?

Since IQOS does not burn tobacco and just heats it up, it does not generate smoke nor secondhand smoke. So, the use of IQOS indoors may be tolerable in terms of smell and smoke. Of course, this should follow relevant laws, ordinances, and the policy of the place you’d like to use your IQOS at.

4. My IQOS device isn’t working! What should I do?

It’s unavoidable to have your device act up when you’re far from home. These simple steps may help you solve your device dilemmas.

1. Most of the time, it helps to reset your device. Try this first before resorting to other methods of fixing your device.

2. If the problem persists, you can perform a firmware upgrade on IQOS.com. Simply log in to your account, go to My Devices and select the registered device you would want to upgrade. Then choose Manage Device. Connect your IQOS device via USB cable or via Bluetooth to pair. Once connected, you can go to About My Device to check and upgrade to the latest firmware version.

3. At this point, if your problem hasn’t been solved by restarting or updating firmware, you can use the online-diagnostic tool.

4. If your device is still malfunctioning, you can contact IQOS Customer Care at #983838 or message the IQOS Philippines page.
