Previous generation IQOS devices heat tobacco from the inside using HeatControl™ technology with a heating blade.
With the revolutionary SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ and the absence of the blade, for the devices of the IQOS ILUMA line it is no longer necessary to carry out cleaning thanks to the absence of tobacco residues.

What is the difference between IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ORIGINALS DUO devices?
The main difference between IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ORIGINALS DUO is the tobacco heating system.
IQOS ILUMA vs IQOS ORIGINALS DUO technology:
The IQOS ORIGINALS DUO holder uses a heating blade that works using HeatControl™ technology and regulates the heating temperature of the tobacco.
On the other hand, IQOS ILUMA uses another innovative technology - SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™, which also heats tobacco instead of burning it. But in comparison with IQOS ORIGINALS DUO, IQOS ILUMA does not have a heating blade inside the device and that’s why is considered more reliable than other IQOS models. SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ technology and TEREA heated tobacco sticks combine innovative technology and true tobacco taste without burning, ash or smoke to deliver a superior taste experience, without the need for cleanup.

The IQOS ILUMA line has been designed to be used exclusively with TEREA heated tobacco sticks, which have an innovative stainless steel-coated metal heating element inserted directly inside the sticks. TEREA sticks are not compatible with IQOS ORIGINALS DUO or earlier IQOS models.
