About IQOS
IQOS is an electronic device that heats TEREA tobacco units. How? It uses two types of technology depending on the model: HeatControlTM and SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEMTM. The first heats the tobacco through a heating blade and can be found in the following models: IQOS 3 DUO, IQOS MULTI, and IQOS ORIGINALS. On the other hand, the innovative and newest SMARTCORE technology was created exclusively for IQOS ILUMA models, which heat tobacco through an induction process without the need for a blade.
By heating the tobacco rather than burning it, IQOS offers a new flavor experience that produces no smoke, ash, or cigarette smell, and therefore causes less discomfort to those around you. It is not a liquid nicotine vaporizer or an electronic cigarette; it is a tobacco heater, which has become a better alternative to tobacco consumption. In addition, IQOS produces, on average, 95% fewer toxic substances compared to cigarettes* by eliminating tobacco combustion completely.

IQOS ILUMA i™ is the latest technology in IQOS devices that heat tobacco without burning it using the SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™, offering a clean, smooth, and flexible experience. Designed for use only with TEREA tobacco units, they are available in three versions:
- IQOS ILUMA i PRIME™ and IQOS ILUMA i™: include a touchscreen display with information on preheating, remaining time, and number of experiences (one or two). They offer advanced features such as:
o Up to 3 consecutive uses in Performance mode (without pause).
o Pause and resume the experience.
o FlexPuff for a flexible experience. - IQOS ILUMA i ONE™: up to 20 consecutive uses, FlexPuff, and AutoStart/AutoStop function.
FlexPuff is an advanced function available on all IQOS ILUMA i™ devices, designed to offer a more flexible experience than before. Depending on how you puff, FlexPuff adapts to the user and can provide 4 additional puffs (in addition to the standard 14 puffs) within the 6-minute experience.
- Works exclusively with Terea tobacco units.
- Activation and the number of additional puffs depend on individual usage patterns, so it does not always apply to every experience.
How it works:
Towards the end of the experience, the device analyzes whether the tobacco unit has been completely consumed.
- If it has not been fully consumed, 4 additional puffs are automatically added and the extension of the experience will be indicated on the screen.
What is the Pause Mode feature on IQOS ILUMA i devices?
Available only on IQOS ILUMA i PRIME™ and IQOS ILUMA i™ devices, Pause Mode is an advanced feature that allows you to pause your experience for up to 8 minutes and then resume it. If you do not reactivate your experience within 8 minutes, the heating element will automatically turn off and the experience will end.
Use the touchscreen to see if Pause Mode is available:
- In Performance Mode, during the first 3 minutes or 8 puffs of the experience.
- In Performance Mode (default setting) for one of two consecutive uses
How to use it:
- Swipe down across the touchscreen to pause. A vibration will indicate when the pause begins.
- During the pause, the LEDs on the touchscreen will turn off one by one (counterclockwise) from the 12 o'clock position as the duration of the pause counts down.
- If the experience does not resume within 8 minutes, the heating element will turn off. A vibration will indicate when the pause is about to end.
- Swipe up across the touchscreen to resume the experience. Please note that when pause mode is activated, the experience is limited to 14 breaths (including all breaths before and after the pause).
- Once the experience is resumed, preheating will take an average of 20 seconds; the touch screen will display a light that will complete its cycle.
- Vibration and light will indicate that the heating element is ready for use.
There are two LED intensity levels on the touch screen: “High” and “Low” for IQOS ILUMA i PRIME™ and IQOS ILUMA i™ devices.
To change the LED intensity, tap the touch screen five times. The LED intensity level changes between 100% (high) and 30% (low).
