Your IQOS device
The revolutionary SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ technology in IQOS ILUMA heats tobacco from the inside through an induction process, which does not require a heating blade like previous IQOS models. What does this mean? It means that IQOS ILUMA uses tobacco units specially designed for SMARTCORE technology, which feature a metal piece that helps the heating process run smoothly. In short, the tobacco is heated from the inside instead of being burned to achieve an improved, hassle-free, and cleaner tobacco experience. In addition, because it heats the tobacco instead of burning it, it produces on average 95% fewer toxic substances compared to cigarettes*.
Important information: This does not necessarily equate to a 95% risk reduction. IQOS is not risk-free.

To start using the IQOS tobacco heating device, simply follow these steps:
- Insert the TEREA tobacco heating unit up to the filter line. The Heating Element will vibrate once, indicating that automatic tobacco preheating has begun. If you prefer, press the button to start preheating manually.
- You can start using your device once the Heating Element vibrates a second time and the lights remain steady.
- To indicate the last 30 seconds of use or that the last 2 puffs remain, the Heating Element will vibrate with the light(s) flashing white.
- Insert the Heating Element into the Portable Charger to recharge.
Check that the tobacco heating unit is inserted correctly. If the device does not detect the SMARTCORE unit, try removing it and reinserting it. If the problem persists, restart the device or fully charge it before trying again.
This warranty is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase of the IQOS ILUMA i™ device (portable charger and heating element) in your country. The warranty can be extended from 12 months to 24 months if you register your device within 30 calendar days of purchase.
This warranty covers the repair or replacement of the heating element and/or charger of IQOS ILUMA i™ brand products that have material or manufacturing defects.
The warranty does not cover electronic accessories, the power adapter, or the charging cable.
If repair is not possible, a replacement with a product or component of equivalent functionality will be provided. To the extent permitted by local law, the color and/or model of the replacement is subject to the availability of that color and/or model. The provisions of this warranty are only valid in the country of purchase.
IQOS ILUMA i devices use a foil-free induction heating system, so they only work with TEREA tobacco units for heating. If you insert a unit from previous generations, the device will not activate.
After use, TEREA tobacco units for heating have a darker filter and slightly compacted tobacco. New units have a clean filter and loose tobacco.
To reset your device, place the Heating Element in the Portable Charger and press the button for 10 seconds, then release it. All lights will turn off, flash twice, and turn back on to confirm a reset, and you're done!
Checking the battery status of your Charger is very easy. Just briefly press the side button on your device's Charger. The Charger lights will indicate the following:
- 4 white lights mean the battery is fully charged
- 3 white lights mean that up to 75% of the battery remains
- 2 white lights mean that up to 50% of the battery remains
- 1 white light means that up to 25% of the battery remains
Charging your device is quick and easy, but remember that it is safest to use the Power Adapter and charging cable designed for IQOS ILUMA. It takes about 135 minutes (2 hours 15 minutes) to fully charge the Charger and up to 10 minutes to fully charge the Heating Element for the first time. The recharge times for the Heating Element are:
1 min 50 sec for 1 use
3 min 25 sec for 1-2 uses
5 min 15 sec for 0-2 uses
and 10 min 05 sec for its first charge out of the box

- Metal piece: Features an innovative metal heating element, coated with stainless steel and placed inside the tobacco unit for uninterrupted heating.
- Real tobacco: It is composed of a carefully selected, finely ground, and specially prepared tobacco blend.
- Front seal: Keeps your IQOS ILUMA Heating Element clean after use, free of tobacco residue, ensuring easy insertion and removal of the tobacco heating unit.
- Airflow chamber: Ensures that only the correct amount of tobacco vapor passes through the tobacco unit for an enhanced experience.
- Cooling plug: Cools the temperature of the tobacco vapor. It is made of cellulose acetate, which offers the highest cooling efficiency to date.
- Protective wrapper: Our new paper protective wrapper contributes to a cleaner experience after use.
- Filter: This part of the tobacco unit is the mouthpiece.
The new heat-not-burn tobacco units feature a stainless steel-coated metal heating element, which should not be removed as it has sharp edges. Tobacco units should be kept out of the reach of children and pets at all times. If swallowed, they can cause serious injury to internal organs due to the presence of this metal heating element. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Always dispose of tobacco heating units after use.
